Fire Mitigation

Why is fire mitigation essential?

Fire Mitigation is critical when living in a fire-prone community. Fire Mitigation can reduce the impact of a wildland fire by slowing it down, reducing its intensity, and making it easier for firefighters to control. It also reduces the likelihood of damage to buildings and property. Fire mitigation makes your home as well as your community safer. It may also give the added advantage of reducing your insurance premiums.

What is fire mitigation?

Wildland fire mitigation is designed to make a house, building, or property less prone to being affected by a wildland fire. This can involve many things including, trimming trees, removing pinecone and pine needle buildup, removing bushes under trees and near buildings, clearing debris and flammable materials from under decks, lowering grass height, removing trees, and much more. (Please note that tree removal is not provided by Stensland Services.)

How I do it

How are fire mitigation services performed?

Step One - Property Evaluation

Once you schedule a fire mitigation quote from the contact page, the first step is for me to evaluate your property. This may involve finding property boundaries, marking bushes and branches for removal, placing marking flags to indicate distance, measuring the depth of pine needles and cones, and more depending on the property. This is followed by a walk-through with you to show you what I have found.

Step Two - Quote

I will send you your quote which will give three options: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. The Bronze option provides only the most critical service whereas the Gold option provides a comprehensive package.

Step Three - Service Plan

You will select and sign your service plan and make a 25% deposit.

Step Four - Project Completion

I will arrange a time to complete the service which can last from a few hours to a few weeks depending on many factors including the size of the property, the last time fire mitigation was performed, and the service level chosen.

Step Five - Walkthrough

After I complete the mitigation project, I will walk through the property with you, explaining what I did and any future fire mitigation needs.

Wildfire Tax Benefits

You may be eligible for tax benefits if you have had fire mitigation performed on your property. Some clients have received 50% of the cost of fire mitigation deducted from their taxes. For more information visit:
